Five Card Charlie (Blackjack term)
In the game of blackjack, a five card Charlie is a term used to refer to a hand containing five cards that has a value of 21 or less. This is a winning hand for the player, and the player is typically paid out at odds of 1 to 1 on their bet. In order to receive a five card Charlie, the player must take at least five cards without going over 21. If the player takes six or more cards, they will automatically lose, regardless of the value of their hand. Five card Charlies are relatively rare in blackjack, and they are considered to be a lucky hand. Some casinos may offer a higher payout for five card Charlies in order to encourage players to take more risks.
