Pot Limit (Gambling term)

In gambling, pot limit refers to a type of betting structure in which the maximum bet is equal to the size of the pot. In a pot limit game, players can only bet up to the amount of money or chips that are already in the pot. For example, if the pot contains $100, the maximum bet that a player can make is $100. Pot limit games are different from no-limit games, in which there is no maximum bet, and from fixed-limit games, in which the maximum bet is predetermined and does not change. Pot limit games are popular because they allow for larger bets and more exciting gameplay, but they also provide some level of control and prevent players from betting all of their chips on one hand.
