FunID – Is it Legit?
Does FunID operate legally?
FunID itself must operate legally, considering that it’s downloadable at Apple Store, for example. Having been allowed as an officially downloadable app and payment service means something, and we can go off of that. Still, there’s more to be known about FunID’s regulatory status and you should always keep an eye on the trustworthiness of your chosen casino as well.
Who runs FunID?
FunID is an ambitious payment service project handled by the even more ambitious newly emerged company called NovaForge Ltd. This bold enterprise has undertaken various successful casino projects and is now making waves with its innovative service aiming to unite betting sites and payment platforms under one roof for the ease of players.
FunID License
FunID itself has the same license as most of NovaForge Ltd’s projects – an Anjouan license issued in the Comoros. This seems the be the new preferred license for any gambling-related service because it allows for crypto payments to be integrated – something that has been waning off with Curacao, for example.
With this in mind, especially when it comes to a payment service like FunID, we can give it the benefit of the doubt for using an Anjouan permit more because it allows cryptocurrencies than because of its general leniency and lack of player protection. Either way, it will be of utmost importance for you to only engage with licensed casinos that have a partnership with FunID.
Issues at FunID
FunID offers convenience, and it's undeniable. Still, a few issues we noticed must be mentioned for full transparency. One problem we had a particularly hard time with was the text message login code. It often requires multiple attempts, and we finally succeeded on our 8th retry before successfully logging in. This is frustrating, to say the least, especially knowing how fast we wanted to start playing.
Also, the regulatory oversight is a rather lenient one, and it's not publicly disclosed. We managed to find information about the service being licensed with an Anjouan permit, which is known for its lack of player protection, but another notable feature it has is allowing for cryptocurrency payments. In FunID's case, using this type of license is more likely linked to it being the only one that can facilitate the inclusion of crypto coins such as Bitcoin and others.
Limited availability is also a slight issue, as FunID is supported only by its partners, and at the time of our review, the number of partners is 25. Not that having a unified payment and KYC solution for 25 online casinos is a small range, but it's not as widespread as we hope just yet.
